May 20, 2009 - Female Bluebird with BIG insect, beginning at least a full minute of biting and throwing this bug to the ground in an attempt to subdue it enough so that she could fly away with it.
May 20, 2009 - Female Bluebird with BIG insect. She spent at least a full minute biting and throwing this bug to the ground. In this picture, she is in the process of breaking its head away from its thorax.
May 20, 2009 - After spending almost a full minute biting and throwing this bug to the ground, she finally broke its head partially away from its thorax as shown here. After a brief break, she picked up the bug and flew away.
June 14, 2009 - "Dad" Bluebird expressing his feelings about me sizing up his nest so that I could come back later and stick my camera lens into HIS nest box, to take pictures of HIS babies. The photo is out of focus in spots, mainly because Dad was only a few feet away and homing in!
